It's always "dining al fresco" in Provence!
On a Sunday in June, early afternoon, you can stand on the terrace and hear
only the sound of the wind rustling through the treetops. Tranquility,
the locals call it.
In southern France everything really does stop, pretty
much, at lunchtime on Sunday. Families gather in numbers of 2s or 20s.
The air begins to fill with sounds of children laughing, glasses and
dishes clinking....the sounds of family life.
"A table!" the saying goes. (ahh TAH-blah) When lunch is ready and the lady of the house wants to call the family together, the chorus begins to sing A table, A
table! "To the table please, everyone, love and lunch are being served."
